Mr. Douglass Rowe

High School Principal

Mr.Douglass Rowe is the new principal at Beaver Falls High School. 

Mr. Rowe began his career at his alma mater, Rochester High School, where he was an English teacher, club sponsor, and department chairperson.  Mr. Rowe was also an assistant football and softball coach at Rochester and Beaver Falls. 

In 2009, Mr. Rowe left the classroom to serve as assistant principal at Hopewell High School where he stayed for more than ten years.   During his time at Hopewell, Mr. Rowe facilitated the Viking PRIDE initiative at the high school, began the Viking Link Crew freshman transition program, was a vocal advocate for technology in the classroom, worked closely with the Beaver County Truancy Intervention Program, led a push for a positive social media presence for the District, and trained students and staff on the ALICE program as a response to an active shooter.

Mr. Rowe served as the MAC Principals Association president during the 2014-2015 school year, was the acting principal at Hopewell High School for the 2015-2016 school year, and has served on the WPIAL Sportsmanship, and Football steering committees. He earned a BS in Secondary English Education from Slippery Rock University in 1999 and his Pennsylvania Principal Certificate from the University of Pittsburgh in 2005.

Helping struggling students realize their potential for success has been Mr. Rowe’s proudest accomplishment as an educator. 

Mr. Rowe lives with his wife Natalie and their children Maryn, Maddie, and Sam. 

 

Leeman  

Mrs. Mary Beth Leeman

Special Education Compliance Director

Mrs. Mary Beth Leeman is the new Special Education Compliance Director.

Mrs. Leeman is in her 27th year working in the Big Beaver Falls Area School District. Hired back in 1993, she began as a middle school special education teacher. She taught multiple subjects before being appointed as the middle school’s assistant principal in 2005. Later, Mrs. Leeman proudly served as the district’s high school principal from 2011 until 2020. 

Born and raised in Moon Township, she graduated from Mercyhurst University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. Mrs. Leeman went on to receive her Master of Education in Administrative and Policy Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, as well as her Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from California University of Pennsylvania.

At home, she and her husband Nathan have two children, Josh and Billy. Mrs. Leeman is and will remain dedicated to continue her journey in public education by supporting and working with her students, their families, as well as her fellow teachers and administrators throughout the district.
